Jack Frost staff closeup

I found two sticks, one that was long and straight, and one that had that perfect curve, on a walk. I broke off the extra branches, hot glued them together, and then continued hot gluing the entire thing until there wasn't a single bit of wood left exposed to the air. This provided a frozen, icy effect, but just as a warning, it did take me almost all night to do it, and my fingers were sore from squeezing the trigger of the hot glue gun by the time 6am rolled around. That provided the main shape of the staff, and gave it the icy effect I was looking for, but I needed the Special Effects: Jack Frost's frozen lightning. Fortunately, I used to work at an Office Depot, and went to their project boards section (for flashy things to add to a science fair project display board to make up for not having a particularly interesting science fair project) and found strings of christmas-style lights designed to be poked through the project boards powered by a battery pack, with transparent, icy-looking plastic linking the lights and the lights themselves projecting a pale blue white glow. I glued on the battery pack about a fourth of the way from the bottom (so I could stretch the lightless part nearest the battery pack to the bottom of the staff, thereby avoiding doubling over the lights), then wrapped the strand around the staff, hooking it over knots and protrusions from broken branches on the stick, and hot glued the end of the strand near the top. Et voila! It is done
